16A- What’s Your Secret Sauce?

1.)   I believe I am very different from many people because I feel like I have a drive that most people don’t have. Though when transferring to the University of Florida saw many more thinkers like me that I didn’t really exist within my generation. I’m also very hardworking and determined for what I want, no matter what it is. I believe I very much have charming southern hospitality even though I’m from up north. To find that unique within myself.

2.)   I was, unfortunately, unable to record these calls due to being away from all my family during my internship.
Mom- Believes I have the passion and drive to one day be a CEO of a company and has a feeling that I will make a million dollars one day.
Dad- Thinks I’m one of the hardest working people that has overcome many things to get where I am today. Believes I can keep going and be on top of whatever business I do.
Brother- He says I’m always there for him and is one of the most caring people that he knows and is glad he has a nice and outgoing brother.
Grandma- Again,n another person who thinks I’m very caring and has a lot of passion for whatever I put mind to.
Grandpa- Sees a lot of talent and hard work ever since he was my Track and running coach to make me the best I can be.

3.)   I believe these interviews are very true and are accurate to who I am. But I also believe if I was to interview some coworkers, I believe I would get some negative feedback not necessarily mea,n but I do hope people accountable and have high expectations. So, I might get some commits that I work people too hard, but these people are around my age and I know they are capable of more than they give.

15A- Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 2

1.)    Interview 1- I learned from this interview that if I go towards college students that they would want some kind of theme/special night that will help it sell.
Interview 2- In this interview, it reinforced that the price point in this segment is significant to have for students on a budget.
Interview 3- I learned in this interview that location would have to be key. Since many factors of convivence for students would be a priority, for instance, a student on campus wouldn’t travel to the other side of Gainesville for a sandwich when alternates are around campus.

2.)    I found if I’m going to be in the college student segment, then I need to have a price-friendly menu for students who come in as well as special nights where they can get deals similar to what we see now around campus.

3.)    They would buy it from a storefront with cash or with their plastic.

4.)    People will instantly know that they made a great purchase with a full tummy of delicious peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

5.)    I’ve learned if I’m able to find a central location for students while having a reasonable price point, I will be able to sell to college students and believe it would be very popular.

6.)   I think that my idea for the peanut butter and jelly sandwich can be very successful in this market segment of college students. I know I can go many ways with it, but I think if I focus it in a general college area, I believe it will be very profitable.

14A- Halfway Reflection

1.)   For this class and my 3 other classes for this class, I’ve been working ahead so that I don’t have to worry about it later. Especially since I’m currently in Tennessee doing my Dollywood Internship. But what also helps me is being passionate about my idea.

2.)   Though I’ve been overwhelmed many times with school and work at times, it’s a last-minute crunch time to finish an assignment bit never once have I thought about quitting. I just keep powering through and staying on top of my stuff because I know one day this will all pay off.

3.)   The three tips I would give would be 1.) be in love with your idea/ opportunity. This will let you be passionate about your work and make it easier on yourself. 2.) Keep getting ahead on your work because, in the end, it will pay off plus nothing wrong with early work just late work. 3.) Really investing in the lectures, I know you’re only trying to get 5 questions right, but his lectures offer so much, and they will help you further in this class but also through life it self.

13A- Reading Reflection No. 1

The book I choose was Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson

1) You read about an entrepreneur:
·       What surprised you the most?
What surprised me the most was that he took calligraphy at Reed College, where he later incorporated what he learned from that class to the making of the Mac.
·       What about the entrepreneur did you most admire?
I admire his drive and ambition for what he wanted, no matter the challenge before him.
·       What about the entrepreneur did you least admire?
What I least like about Steve Job was that he wasn’t a nice person and was tough on people and even harder on people closer to him.
·       Did the entrepreneur encounter adversity and failure? If so, what did they do about it?
He did, at one point Steve Jobs was kicked out of his own company then went to make his own company where he then was bought by Apple to be back in his original company.
2) What competencies did you notice that the entrepreneur exhibited?
I believe the competencies that Steve Job had was imagination and drive. Just from the very beginning of dropping out of college to how he founded a company called Apple from a garage. To have the drive that he had, especially from all the setbacks but then to also have the mind that he had. The big picture and envision a new world in his mind and thinking about what the consumer wanted and not needed.
3) Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you.
I’ll be honest with you in most books I get confused and lost in due to my lack of attention span but, this one kept me going since I’m a huge Apple lover and admire Steve Jobs.
4) If you were able to ask two questions to the entrepreneur, what would you ask? Why?
If Steve Jobs was around today or if I could ask him for a brief second, the first one would be straightforward. What was your next idea for a product? I know this might seem like a lousy question, but I firmly believe if Steve Jobs didn’t die as soon as he did, I think we would be very different in the tech world right now. My second question is If you didn’t come up with building a computer, what, would you have done or invited? Steve Jobs was a man of marketing and thinking of great ideas and had a team to make them a reality. So essentially, what ideas besides tech were in his mind.
5) For fun: what do you think the entrepreneur's opinion was of hard work? Do you share that opinion?

I think Steve Jobs was extremely hard working and was a man who envisioned a new world. Even when he was kicked out of his own company, he still managed a way back in and was able to do what he always envisioned. Though he wasn’t always most liked or had the best temper. The man knew what he wanted and at the end of the day, he made it happen.

12A- Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

1.)   The segment I would be entering is a large segment that includes all ages and people, but I’ve envisioned to be geared more towards young adults in college.

2.)   Interview 1: In this interview, I learned that students like a cheap option for food.
Interview 2: In this interview with a mother of 2 enjoys convivence during her day and would pay the price if it meant not making kids lunch in the morning.
Interview 3: In this interview, I learned that many college students don’t have a regular daily schedule and find themselves up super late and don’t have many options at night for food.

3.)    I believe I can shape this business idea to be a cost-effective sandwich as well as open hours when people need there PB&J. That’s my biggest thing that it's convenient. So, my next thing is to test my hours I was thinking that our hours are from 10pm to 3pm. I know these are strange hours, but I believe they can be most beneficial. 10pm to about 3-4am is a late-night rush for studying students and people returning from bars/clubs. 6am to 11am in the morning rush people wanting sandwiches for their day at school or work. 12pm to 3pm is all for that lunch rush.

4.)   In my interviews, I learned that students want a cheap and open late kind of midnight munchie break for those returning from the bar and students up late studying.

5.)   I found evidence that students would be my strongest market even though this is a place that can stretch but believe it would be most profitable to market towards young adults in college.

6.)   I believe I am on the right track to serving the young adult college market segment. I chose to focus on this segment as myself a college student believes can make a sandwich cheap enough for an average student on a budget as well as be open late to serve students coming from the bars/clubs as well the students who stay up late studying and need brain food.

11A- Idea Napkin No. 1

1.)   Ever since growing up, I believe I’ve always had these great ideas to make things happen and make something new. This idea for the peanut butter and jelly shop, which all started one spring break to visit my mom in Virginia, where she was stationed at the time. Where I was joking around getting fresh jams and jellies from the farmers market. I made a PB&J and walked the beach walk and went to the beach, where I realized this was my next big idea. So, once I officially get it going and launched, it will still be something that I guard as my baby but also remembering every day the reason why this all started as a simple feeling closer to my mom and enjoying a simpler time.

2.)   I’m offering a new style of sandwich shop that offers PB&J at the convivence of people. It’s more than just a sandwich that you will receive as I’m focusing on a hospitality degree the service will be unmatched, and we help create the “experience.”

3.)   I’m offering it to any PB&J lover! Whether you be a student having midnight craving (Yes, we’re open that late) or a busy working mom completely forgetting to make lunches for there kids. This a place where you can get your jelly fix!

4.)   My PB&J sandwiches are different than a homemade one or even a store-bought Uncrustable. The first being that our jams and jellies are completely fresh and organic, which tastes much better than store-bought. Secondly, there is actually a secret spread that takes the PB&J to the next level. With incredible service and out of this world, PB&J’s, I believe we can keep guests coming in for more.

5.)   No other sandwich shop is doing this. No other place has peanut butter and jelly on their menu o,f course w,ith a few exceptions but not on the level that we should.

10A – Elevator Pitch No. 1

Elevator Pitch for my business idea.

9A- Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2

I’ve been interviewing people from Publix where I work at and asking questions to my coworkers. They know this is my baby for a long time, so I found a wide variety.

Interview 1: In this interview, I learned more about the idea of my Jellies being different and how they are fresh and organic from a farmer’s market. I have a close relative that works at farmer’s market where all they do is sell jams which is a huge hit and is where I can partner with him so that we can bring this idea a reality.

Interview 2: In this interview which was very special to me due to this is a close friend of mine and always gives me an honest opinion as she’s heard all my crazy ideas. She believes there is a market here and tells me a story about how she just moved away from home for the first time and is a new place where no friends from college or close to family. She says but here cafĂ© at her work sells PB&J which she always goes for due to the home feel. But goes on saying that sometimes they’re sold out before she can get one.

Interview 3: In this interview, I learned the importance of standing out and find a way to why I’m different. Since this person brings a PB&J sandwich every day for lunch that she makes from at home. So I need to figure out the price point since it’s cheap to make a PB&J at home. While being able to stand out why get a PB&J at my store.

Interview 4: In this interview, I learned that there is much love for it but hasn’t been quite sold on the idea of a PB&J sandwich bought at a store due to the easiest sandwich to make at home and would have to be special.

Interview 5: In this interview, I learned about people are health conscious and don’t always go for sandwiches due to bread being high in carbs. I can see why people have this view and I mentioned that I have a lot of different types of breads including low carb and gluten-free bread. Then it was brought to my attention about waste since bread doesn’t have the best shelf life. So coming up with that solution will be difficult to an extent while I stay true to my values.

Who: Anyone who has the love for convivence and love Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches.

What: A out of this world Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich that provides goodness and convivence.

Why: The need for a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich shop and no longer having a frozen PB&J as the alternate.

Inside the boundary:
Who is in- sandwich lovers, PB&J lovers, excellent convivence for a sandwich.

What the need is- Having to be able to get a PB&J sandwich on the go for convivence while maintaining high standards for a PB&J instead of frozen.

Why the need exists- Since there is nowhere to go to get a PB&J sandwich from anywhere besides the frozen section.

Outside the Boundary:
Who is not- People who don’t like sandwiches or peanut butter.

What the need is not- No one wants to go out to buy a sandwich they can make at home and plan ahead for the day.

Alternative Explanations- Able to buy the ingredients to make at home. Able to buy Uncrustables for on the go.

8A- Solving The Problem

1.)  The opportunity that I have come up with is a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich shop.

2.)  Far too often, you have a craving for a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich but no place that especially makes it like other sandwich shops that always have turkey, ham, tuna, and meatball. Here I have this idea where it’s set up like a Moe’s or Pieology. Basically, you come in pick your bread, whether it be white, wheat, a bagel, or even adventurous we have a pretzel bun. Name it; we’ve probably already jellied it up. The next step in the process would be your butter, whether it be peanut butter, cashew butter, or almond butter, the options are endless. Now for what makes my PB and J’s out of this world is our secret spread one and spread two, which you can choose which one or both, but we don’t recommend it. The next step is picking fresh organic farmers market jams where again, it’s endless since this sandwich is yours! Finally, the last step is to add any other toppings like banana or chocolate. This is a sandwich we’ve dreamed of at 2 am or in the middle of exam week during a study break.
