7A- Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

1.)   Gourmet PB & J Sandwich Shop

2.)    - The Who: Sandwich lovers, Sandwich Connoisseur
The What: Special Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches right at your convivence.
The Why: Sandwich shops or any place for that matter don’t include a delicious Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich.

3.)   -     Testing the who: For any person who loves and enjoys convivence of Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich
-       Testing the what: Just strictly sticking for the convivence of a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich.
-       Testing the why: The only convivence of a premade PB & J comes from an Uncrustable and not made freshly made. This product/service will change that and be a place where you can get your PB & J fix.

Interview 1: From this interview, I learned that even though I love this idea and believe it is what everyone wants. I find that to be false as this person is not a fan of peanut butter so typically don’t go for a PB & J sandwich. I offered if it was maybe possibly almond butter would they give it a chance. Learning it’s possible to get in more interest if I add more variety.

Interview 2: From this interview, I learned that I believe I will have a decent following once started since they love PB & J, and all of their family loves them too. I see that this idea is very possible and glad I will have a decent following when starting.

Interview 3: From this interview, I learned and understood my market better. I found that it is an untapped market with only a few companies in it. But the bigger market of sandwich shops is much bigger, and it is hard to enter the market. Finding out that there are many already established known shops.

Interview 4: From this interview, I learned that there is a lack of variety in premade sandwiches. Like for instance, you typically have trouble finding other strawberry or blueberry jelly for premade sandwiches. I believe I can stand out with competitors and bring the need for variety in my brand.

Interview 5: From this interview, I learned that I believe I’ve done enough research with people to give a good gage on what people want and might want. It might be only five people, but it’s sounding like something that I can make this a great idea even better.

6A- Identifying Opportunities in Economic & Regulatory Trends

Economic Opportunity 1: Is Cannabis the World’s Biggest Cash Crop?

What: In this article is about how Cannabis is one of the most profitable crop with it generate as of right now in select legalized states about 50 million per km. I know this number can go even higher if it's Federally passed by the U.S. government.

Who: People who want legal cannabis would benefit.

Difficult or easy to exploit? I believe this would be easy to exploit since people have wanted cannabis to be legalized for a long time.

I see this as a great opportunity for the country to legalize it and can make the country a lot of money. As well people investing, in it and would be easy to get into when it first comes out, then once established it would be hard to enter this market. This could be America's way out of a huge debt it currently has.

Economic Opportunity 2: Universal Orlando’s New Theme Park

What: In this article, it talks about the new theme park that Universal is building and officially will be there 3rd park. It was the first groundbreaking theme park since the Animal Kingdom back in 1999. This park promises to reinvent how people interact in theme parks and be the most immersive park ever created.

Who: Investors in Orlando and theme park lovers.

Difficult or easy to exploit? I believe it won’t be the easiest thing to exploit as it might be too many theme park,s in one area.

I see this as an okay opportunity, for I think about how Orlando already has seven big theme parks with as well about four water parks. Not to mention that it also has many other attractions in the area, which means that adding another theme park may just be one too many due to so many already being in business.

Regulatory Opportunity 1: Town of Palm Beach reopens beaches- with new rules

What: In this article, it’s about the new rules at the beach for beachgoers. With not too many people happy about it and puts a new task for the lifeguards who are simply just doing there job.

Who: People who want to go to the beach and lay out on a towel or sit in a beach chair.

Difficult or easy to exploit? It will be difficult with the new rules and regulations.

I see this as something to enforce with not much opportunity for growth or have any happy beach goings.

Regulatory Opportunity 2: Universal Orlando Resort Operations Update

What: This article is about Universal reopening with many new restrictions on people to help with COVID-19. The guidelines are strict with many warnings for people before visiting.

Who: People who want to go to theme parks.

Difficult or easy to exploit? I think it’ll be easy to exploit this market since people could come up with more comfortable solutions while following these new guidelines.

I believe there is a decent opportunity to take here. I find there to be many opportunities within the theme park industry as it’s always involving, and some new tech comes out. It’s only to find a new product for guests while following these new guidelines.

5A- Identifying Local Opportunities

1.     Reopening Northeast Florida: Entertainment venues starting to book shows for 2021

In this article, they’re talking about reopening entertainment venues for concerts in Saint Augustine and Jacksonville. They’re rescheduling shows from 2020 to 2021. The issue that arises is when reopening how does this affect capacity. It affects the venue and the concert goings in different ways. For venues they would have a lost of revenue, and concert-goers may miss out seeing a favorite band and how they can guarantee safety when attending the event.

2.     City Hall to pay $9 million to struggling Jacksonville small businesses

In this article, they’re talking about how Jacksonville is giving $9 million to small businesses that have lost 25 percent of their income due to COVID-19. This affects small businesses and the local city government. It is a great opportunity for small businesses to get a little extra help at this time and will be able to take their business on the right track when everything opens back up.

3.     County Commission invites Tesla to relocate to St. Johns County

In this article, they’re talking about how the St. Johns County invited Tesla to build a new headquarters in the county. This is a great opportunity if this happens in St. Johns because it will create jobs within the county, which it currently lacks as more than half of residents leave the county for work. This is also a great opportunity to bring in other big companies to follow after Tesla.

4.     Vacation rentals can reopen in Duval, Clay, St. Johns and Nassau

In this article, they’re talking about how Vacation rentals can reopen in Northeast Florida. This is a huge opportunity for those businesses but also now bringing back tourism into the area.

5.     COVID-19 dining out: Restaurants take to the streets to create socially distanced dining rooms as nation reopens

In this article, they’re talking about how restaurants are now taking to the streets to create socially distanced places to sit as restrictions are being lifted with new guidelines. With this, I believe this gives everyone a new opportunity since it just might be the new normal. This right here can really take off and eventually bring a new lifestyle to our big cities in areas where fewer cars dive in the city due to roads being closed. I know this is something big cities have been looking for a while. This just might be the tip of the iceberg.

4A- Forming An Opportunity Belief

1.)   I have an opportunity belief in a sandwich shop. Not just in any sandwich shop but a special peanut butter and jelly sandwich shop.

2.)   It’s not exactly an essential but there is a lack of specialty peanut butter and jelly sandwich places. The person who is needed is anyone who loves a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I’ve had this idea for a few years that I’ve always gradually grew upon. As of right now, there are no places that sell a good old fashion peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I believe this is a great opportunity due to a lack of market with about 3 stores outside of Florida.

Interview 1.
3.)   PB&J Sandwich lover

4.)   - Would you be interested in a sandwich shop specializing in PB&J? Yes
- Is it an need you believe that you are missing? No, because I can make it at home
- Is it an need that you wish you had? No, but when eating a PB&J reminds me of simpler times and is comfort food.
-How long have you liked PB&J- Since they were a kid.
- How are you dealing with this need currently? Uncrustables
-Are you satisfied with that solution? To an extent but would like more than 2 flavors of jelly

5.)   I learned from this interview that there is a possible market due to a lack of competition and variety.

Interview 2.
1.)   Parent of 2 kids

2.)   - Would you be interested in a sandwich shop specializing in PB&J? Yes, mainly for my kids
- Is it an need you believe that you are missing? No, because they make PB&J daily
- Is it an need that you wish you had? It would be nice to not always make the sandwiches
- How long have you liked PB&J- Grew up with them and now I make it for my kids
- How are you dealing with this need currently? Make homemade sandwiches
- Are you satisfied with that solution? It would be nice for someone to take over and make a sandwich.

3.)   I learned from this interview that kids love PB&J but so do parents. As they make it for there kids for lunch.

Interview 3.
3.)   Average daily person

4.)   - Would you be interested in a sandwich shop specializing in PB&J? Yes of course!
- Is it an need you believe that you are missing? Yes
- Is it an need that you wish you had? They would love to eat at a specialty made PB&J shop
- How long have you liked PB&J- Grew up on them.
- How are you dealing with this need currently? Making them herself but would like to go out and buy a sandwich besides a Uncrustable.
- Are you satisfied with that solution? No would prefer someone else making it.

5.)   I learned a lot from this interview and learned a lot of insight into how successful my business could potentially be.

7.
-I believe my idea did not change throughout this process of interviews and getting feedback.
- I believe that the opportunity is still feasible and is accurate to my envisioned opportunity.
- I believe it depends on the situation and opportunities. In my situation, I believe I should listen to them but not fully change my idea but still make changes based on their feedback.

3A- Your Entrepreneurship Story

1.)  I don’t know much about entrepreneurship, but I’ve always come up with business ideas. I feel like ever since a young age I’ve come up with some money scheme. As time has gone on, my thoughts and my schemes have just gotten more thought out and on to something great in my belief. I believe I have my best idea yet, and I look forward to gaining the knowledge from this class to perfect it and make it the best I can.

2.)  The reason why I enjoyed ENT 3003 because I’ve always wanted a more in-depth knowledge of being an entrepreneur and learn more about gaining ideas behind the business that I want to start. I hope I gain an understanding of coming up with successful business ideas. At the end of this class, I hope to take my plan I’ve had for a long time and have improved on overtime. To finally make it a reality and open it up within a year.

2A- Bug List

1.)  A place to get specialty PB&J. There’s not a place where I can get a PB&J unless its an Uncrustable.

2.)  Evening traffic after getting off work or school. Everyone is getting off work at the same time, so it creates traffic on my way home.

3.)  Higher education to go far and be successful in life. College isn’t for everyone, but it’s almost required for most jobs that provide a decent living.

4.)  Waiting in line at favorite theme parks in hot summer Florida weather. It’s a significant destination in the summer, so everyone flocks to the Florida theme parks, which make lines over an hour-long for favorite rides.

5.)  Not having a better way to get to Gainesville from my house. There’s nothing but backroads from my house to campus, and it makes the 2-hour drive rough with no interstate convivence.

6.)  People are giving me crap for wearing a UF shirt because they are FSU, GA, or LSU fans. I understand that hey were football rivals, but at the end of the day, it’s just a great school that I attend.

7.)  Ungrateful customers. I apologize that we don’t have the product, but at least you have a store to come to the shop.

8.)  The work ethic of today's generation. Kids now entering the workforce were given everything when growing up, so now they don’t think they need to work for it.

9.)  The older generation doesn’t like listening to people younger than them. People around my parent's age have trouble taking pointers and listening to people their kid's age due to they think they know more and have too much pride.

10.)        The minimum wage is disgusting. Greedy CEO takes a more significant cut of profits rather than paying for there front line workers.

11.)        Slow drivers in the left lane. The left lane was created as a passing lane and is written in such a way to make it law. But due to little people knowing the rules of the road, it, unfortunately, happens too often.

12.)        ProctorU is having access to my entire computer. It’s understandable so that students don’t cheat, but there's a limit to my privacy.

13.)        Misplacing keys or wallet, especially when running late. My mind is somewhere else due to other important things, so I forget where I place some necessity to leave the house.

14.)        Having to wear a face mask 24/7 at work and anytime outside the house. To help prevent the spread of COVID-19 due to so many people being asymptomatic.

15.)        Dysfunctional government. No one can agree in government due to Republicans and Democrats being so different.

16.)        People who don’t use headphones. People think they’re able to play loud music out in public.

17.)        When my socks get wet. When it rains or go on a water ride, and it makes me irritated.

18.)        People being late. People don’t have a concertation for others and think they’re better than others.

19.)        People who park between 2 parking spaces. People think they are a privilege and believe they can take multiple parking spaces.

20.)        My dorm had a far walk to the closest laundry facility. It is an older hall on campus, so facilities are more spread out and not always the nearest.

Reflection- It wasn't the easiest thing to come up with but it wasn't too bad. I took your advice and did two a day but wasn't the easiest due to the current situation in the world right now. I was able to manage and I feel like I came up with a pretty good list and over time I believe that this can actually be fixable if someone really dove in and tried.
