7A- Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

1.)   Gourmet PB & J Sandwich Shop

2.)    - The Who: Sandwich lovers, Sandwich Connoisseur
The What: Special Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches right at your convivence.
The Why: Sandwich shops or any place for that matter don’t include a delicious Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich.

3.)   -     Testing the who: For any person who loves and enjoys convivence of Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich
-       Testing the what: Just strictly sticking for the convivence of a Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich.
-       Testing the why: The only convivence of a premade PB & J comes from an Uncrustable and not made freshly made. This product/service will change that and be a place where you can get your PB & J fix.

Interview 1: From this interview, I learned that even though I love this idea and believe it is what everyone wants. I find that to be false as this person is not a fan of peanut butter so typically don’t go for a PB & J sandwich. I offered if it was maybe possibly almond butter would they give it a chance. Learning it’s possible to get in more interest if I add more variety.

Interview 2: From this interview, I learned that I believe I will have a decent following once started since they love PB & J, and all of their family loves them too. I see that this idea is very possible and glad I will have a decent following when starting.

Interview 3: From this interview, I learned and understood my market better. I found that it is an untapped market with only a few companies in it. But the bigger market of sandwich shops is much bigger, and it is hard to enter the market. Finding out that there are many already established known shops.

Interview 4: From this interview, I learned that there is a lack of variety in premade sandwiches. Like for instance, you typically have trouble finding other strawberry or blueberry jelly for premade sandwiches. I believe I can stand out with competitors and bring the need for variety in my brand.

Interview 5: From this interview, I learned that I believe I’ve done enough research with people to give a good gage on what people want and might want. It might be only five people, but it’s sounding like something that I can make this a great idea even better.

  1. HI Cameron,

I liked reading about the hypothesis you tested. I remember reading about your PB & J store idea in the last assignments and I was looking forward to reading more about it. When looking at your interviews, I can see every persons perspective. I think that this idea is great and something that could work. Maybe offer different types of jelly (grape, strawberry, apple, etc) as well as different forms of peanut butter (almond butter) to accommodate some people with allergies.

  2. Hi Cameron! Like the first person you interviewed, I don't like PB&Js (sorry) but I know a lot of Americans do. Maybe one idea would be to have other food options available because, for example, if my friends wanted to go, I wouldn't be able to eat too unless you had other non-peanut butter options. And this way, you have a larger consumer based as well!

  3. Cameron,
I enjoyed reading about your hypothesis and what you plan on doing with it. PB&J is something enjoyed by many across the country and I feel the food doesn't get enough attention for being so good and so simple. I think it would be great to see a shop selling specialized PB&J sandwiches. I would give the customer many options in regards to the customization of their sandwich all the way from different breads to different types of peanut butter or jelly. This will offer up some excitement when building a sandwich.
